Here, we propose to develop steroids for applications in the medical field, marking a first development for such products in Botswana. Although more than 300 steroids have been developed elsewhere, we will develop steroids using new, environmentally friendly, and sustainable methods. To our prior knowledge, this will be the first time steroids are to be produced from the named fungi associated with extreme environments of Botswana.

Based on our preliminary findings, we seek to develop an antimicrobial steroid as a topical cream and an anti-inflammatory steroid as an ointment. This will be the first time these steroids are produced from the two fungi with innovative processes to produce the two steroids.
