This proposal seeks funding to conduct a 2D gravity survey along a seismic refraction line recorded in 2014 from Shakawe to Mokoboxane Codon Fence covering a distance of 450 km. The gravity survey is required to constrain the results from the seismic refraction project. This situation arises because the resolution of the seismic data is low in the near surface due to the large shot spacing of 25 km. This prevents ray tracing through the shallow zones, hence the need to record gravity to improve coverage. The gravity data will also allow a handle on the surface densities which will help to constrain the velocities.  The goal of the PRIDE-SEISORZ geophysical experiment is to image the crustal structure across the Okavango Rift Zone (ORZ) in northwestern Botswana. The experiment will allow us to estimate total crustal extension, determine the pattern and amount of thinning, assess possible presence of melt within the rift zone, and assess the contrasts in crustal blocks across the rift. Analysis of the crustal and upper mantle structure at this rift zone will feed into addressing the following overarching questions related to rifting of the continental lithosphere. This proposal seeks funding to conduct a 2D gravity survey along a seismic refraction line recorded in 2014 from Shakawe to Mokoboxane Codon Fence covering a distance of 450 km.
