The Community Management of Protected Areas Conservation (COMPACT) was established as an innovative approach towards co-management of World Heritage Sites and protected areas. The COMPACT model is being replicated within the Okavango Delta World Heritage Site, situated in the Ngamiland District, Botswana. This Chapter will examine the potential for COMPACT programme implementation within the Okavango Delta WHS. Data was collected through extensive community consultations through kgotla meetings, focus group discussions, and key informants’ interviews with different resource users within the Panhandle. A stakeholder-derived stakeholder categorization method was employed in stakeholder analysis. Results indicated stakeholders' and communities’ readiness and willingness to venture into a co-management arrangement towards improved management of the world heritage site for community benefit. The area has diverse stakeholder groups, support institutions and organisations to provide synergies among the different actors for effective COMPACT implementation. There is also an existing enabling policy environment to support COMPACT implementation in the area. The COMPACT model, implemented in the Okavango Delta WHS, is expected to complement other initiatives such as CBNRM in the co-management of natural resources, tourism and enhance livelihoods
