The world has been significantly affected by climate change whose impact is ominously impacting on the agricultural sector. Studies argue that farming is a key livelihood strategy in most African countries including Botswana which is dominated by traditional agriculture with mostly low yields. Botswana is characterised by semi-arid climatic conditions that negatively affect food self sufficiency in the country. However, with improvement of economies, African countries, Botswana inclusive, are slowly investing in technologically driven farming practices that have relatively higher yields and economic returns. This study utilised secondary data sources through review of secondary articles, agricultural statistical reports and visual documentaries for shared experiences. Findings indicate that several technologically based, yet climate responsive farming practices were reportedly effective in improving livelihoods of local communities; including hydroponics/acquaponic farming systems, solar-based farming, rain-water harvesting, drip watering system, biogas use and seed saving. Though limited scholarly articles on such farming practices in Botswana, several are practiced locally, however at a lower scale; and thus, calls for their intensifications. Such is unequivocally called for as they improve yields, contribution to the GDP and reduction of import levels of agricultural products in Botswana. Keywords: Climate Change, Smart farming, technology-based farming, Botswana, sustainable farming.
