The book Mobile Technology and Social Transformations: Access to Knowledge in Global Contexts, edited by Felsberger and Subramanian, is a collection of eleven chapters. The book is the fifth in a Routledge series on ‘Access to Knowledge’. Authors are drawn from Botswana, Brazil, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Syria, and the USA, to give it a global outlook. The book targets students and researchers interested in policy and law, access to information, and knowledge creation in the era of mobile technology. It covers a broad scope with the representation of data from various countries to provide more knowledge to the readers on what is happening globally regarding mobile technology usage and their contribution to knowledge access. With its focus on mobile technology and social transformations across the globe, the title of this compendium is adequately explained in the introduction chapter by the editors Stefanie Felsberger and Ramesh Subramanian. Critically, the introduction also unpacks key terms such as ‘access,’ ‘control,’ ‘social change,’ and economic opportunities. The book consists of 180 pages and is structured in three parts. Part one is titled ‘Access: Mobile Technologies and A2 K.’ It demonstrates that access to knowledge for development is crucial to access mobile technology.
