The early stages of computerisation were pre-occupied with managing activities such asoperations, programming, data collection etc. This then developed into information systems.Such systems include: customer managementsystems, financial systems, human resourcesystems, business intelligence systems, assetmanagement systems, waste managementsystems, document management systems, workflow management systems, and hundredsof other systems. In recent years, thesesystems are being integrated with each other tosuch an extent that it is oftentimes necessary toview them, not as hundreds of differentsystems, but one single system comprising ofseveral systems, often referred to as enterprise-wide information system.
