Africa is disproportionately resource-poor and needs evidence-based policymaking to ensure allocative efficiency. This need is heightened due to fiscal strictures occasioned by crises such as COVID-19. Hence, think tanks must play a meaningful role in the public policy-making space. This chapter discusses the role of the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) in the public policy space in Botswana. It draws on qualitative data collected through questionnaires and documentary analysis. It shows that a legal-institutional architecture enabled BIDPA to influence the public policy space in Botswana. However, an uneasy alliance between research and policy, and policy research remain where the latter does not seamlessly translate into policy relevance. General lessons ensuing from this case include: (i) the need to appreciate the research-policy link; (ii) the capacitation of think tanks; and (iii) ensuring that policy research seamlessly translates into policy relevance
