The impact of drought continues to be felt across Botswana, impacting livestock, farmers, and individuals’ access to food and resources. This study investigated the associations between trauma symptoms, social support, and religious coping (i.e., positive religious coping and negative religious coping) in drought survivors in Botswana. Participants (N = 300) were attending a large university in Botswana and were also impacted by the ongoing droughts affecting the country. This cross-sectional study explored whether trauma symptoms, social support, and religious coping served as predictors of posttraumatic growth (PTG), and whether social support and religious coping moderated the relationship between trauma symptoms and PTG. Using hierarchical regressions and moderation analyses, results demonstrated that each of the predictor variables significantly and positively predicted PTG, but neither social support nor religious coping served as a significant moderator. Implications for trauma professionals are discussed. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2020 APA, all rights reserved)
