The article uses historical data to evaluate the capacity of sectoral youth employment creation in Mozambican’s economy with reference to agriculture, manufacturing, mining, construction, tourism, transport and communications, and services. It seeks to examine the job responsiveness and performance to sectoral product growth during 2010-2018 in terms of creating youth employment. Comparative literature review is conducted on the growth trends in the economic sub-sectors in order to calculate the elasticity of employment growth from 2010 to 2018. The results of youth employment elasticity indicate that manufacturing, mining, transport and communication, and civil construction had employment elasticity (0< ε >1) characterised as employment generators with dynamic increasing productivity. The article provides a set of employment-GDP elasticities datasets based on the case study of Mozambique. It also explores determinants of variations in employment elasticity focusing onthe role played by structural and sectoral variables. The article recommends that certain sectors of the economy be given attention because they have the potential to create youth employment
