This case explores human resource management (HRM) policies and practices that are designed to manage international employees at the University of Botswana. It provides an assessment of employment laws and their impact on diversity management policies and practices in a university setting, where no specific diversity management strategy exists. After reading this case, students will be able to assess HRM policies and practices designed to manage international employees in the context of an institution of higher education in a developing country, understand changes and improvements made in HRM policies to accommodate diversity management practices within the existing employment laws, and evaluate these initiatives and try to recommend other relevant ones from the existing diversity management literature
