Journal: Gender Development Dimensions and Policies

Traditional macroeconomic frameworks are modelled on an'economic man', who is unaffected by historical context, gender, social class, sexual orientation, race, geographic location, or any other determining factor. Gender relations have a clear effect on the distribution of wealth, access to services and resources, and the opportunities needed to fully develop human potential. In turn, national budgets, prepared annually, are the main expression of macroeconomic policy at the national and sub-national levels.
