IEEE PEMC is the oldest power electronics and motion control conference in Europe, held already sixteen times under the name of PEMC, and being a direct continuation of the international conferences organized since 1970 by the Hungarian Electro-technical Association, all that time aiming to connect the East and the West. Now, already for 45 years, the PEMC Council, involving scientists from all over the world, supervises the organization of PEMC conferences. In August 2015, the Industrial Electronics Society of the IEEE conferred to the conference the prestigious name of IEEE-PEMC reflecting its premier role, in the existing conference series. The most recent conferences were held in Slovenia (2006), Poland (2008), Macedonia (2010), Serbia (2012) and Turkey (2014). The 2016 edition will be held in the beautiful city of Varna, Bulgaria. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from industry and academia, from different countries and provide them with a platform to report on their developments, technology trends and research results, related to the Power Electronics and Motion Control. The aim of this 17th IEEE-PEMC conference is to stimulate the search for intelligent power electronics, intelligent control, to make possible to achieve the Intelligent Motion, Intelligent Mechatronics, Intelligent Sensors and Actuators, Intelligent Robots, the Intelligent Micro Grids, Intelligent Energy Generation, Processing, Distributing and Consuming, to meet the needs of the society steadily heading to a better world.
